Implementation of age-verification requirements for viewing online pornography will now not come into force on 15th July (as stated on this site in April this year). The delay was announced by Jeremy Wright, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport in a Statement to the House of Commons. The reason given for the delay is that the Department had forgotten to notify the EU of the proposed guidelines for companies as required by the Technical Standards and Regulations Directive.
His statement in full can be viewed on the Parliament TV channel here during which the Secretary of State sets out further ideas on online harms and protection of children.
