On 22 and 23 September the third SCL Policy Forum took place. It was generally regarded by those attending as an event of real significance. Speakers from many jurisdictions were encouraged to exchange views on long-term issues affecting Web 2.0 and regulation of the new Internet.
The dazzling presentations are all now available online. CPD questions will follow.
Professor Lilian Edwards describes it in her blog (http://blogscript.blogspot.com/) as ‘a real learning curve … Old e-commerce and IT law hands like me need days like this to teach us that infrastructure issues are just as basic as contracts and copyright to making the Internet work’. At his Pragmatist blog (http://sdj-pragmatist.blogspot.com/), Simon Deane-Johns commented ‘Huge credit goes to Chris Marsden for persuading a stellar line-up of international speakers over the 2 days. Credit is also due to Mark Turner of Herbert Smith and Caroline Gould of the SCL for hosting the event and taking care of the endless practicalities.’
