Disruptive technologies are seriously impacting businesses, both challenging established businesses and giving opportunities for new ones. In recognition of this, the Prime Minister has recently announced that a further £45m of funding will be made available for the development of the Internet of Things.
As IT lawyers, we need to understand the way that new technologies are developing and to think through the legal implications of these new technologies. Our clients expect us to understand these new developments. Our new Technology Law Futures Forum on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 June 2014 in London gives an opportunity to take stock of some of these developing technologies and the associated legal issues. Expert speakers from the UK, Europe and the US will present and debate an important range of issues affecting law and technology including wearable tech, drones, robots and healthcare all of which are in the midst of major advances and are moving rapidly into the mainstream. The session on Friday will include personal data lockers and will ask where next for data protection?
This event offers you the chance to interact with thought leaders who are already engaged with a range of issues affecting law and technology. SCL members can take part in this highly relevant and influential event from just £100 + VAT for a half-day session and can attend the entire event for only £300 + VAT which includes 10 hours of CPD. There is also a subsidised rate available for students, academics and unemployed SCL members. A link to the event details is available on the right-hand side of this page.
I look forward to seeing you there.
