Book an SCL event
If you wish to attend an event please book online. If you encounter any issues with booking online, please email hello@scl.org
Please email T2@scl.org to book modules in the Tech Law Essentials Programme – T2) and request an invoice.
Fees can be paid by credit card or bank transfer. All invoices for attendance at SCL events must be paid within 14 days of the invoice date unless otherwise stated in the event terms and conditions.
Paying your invoice
Please use the online booking system to register for an event. If you encounter any issues with booking online, please email hello@scl.org. Please note that we do not accept payments over the phone. Invoices for event bookings must be paid within 14 days of receipt or before the event takes place, whichever is sooner.
Confirmation of your booking
Your booking will be confirmed automatically if you have paid online, or by receipt of an invoice or email if you booked through the SCL office.
Unless an event is sold out, we send emails advertising SCL events to our membership up until the event date. The final email is often titled “last chance to book.” Please note that receiving additional marketing emails about the event you are already booked for does not mean you have lost your place.
Joining details:
For in-person events, you will receive joining details within 24 hours of the event. For online events, we will send the Zoom link on the morning of the event.
Registration and attendee arrival:
Registration for SCL events begins half an hour before the event start time. We kindly ask that you arrive on time to ensure a prompt start.
Cancellations:
For most in-person events, cancellations will only be accepted and refunded if received and acknowledged by SCL HQ at least one week before the event date. Exceptions may apply to some of our larger events and if so, those details will appear on the event page. The cancellation of an event booking may incur an administration fee. Reduced member rates apply only to members and cannot be transferred to non-members without incurring an additional charge. If an in-person event is recorded and the recording is made available to all registered attendees, cancellations may not be accepted. For more details, please refer to the relevant event page.
All webinars are recorded, so cancellations for webinars will not be accepted.
A note on fees for remote bookings (if applicable to the event):
Remote bookings are priced the same as in-person bookings to cover the tech support costs required for a fully hybrid event. Providing a seamless hybrid experience often incurs higher costs than hosting in-person events alone. However, as an educational charity, we strive to make our events as accessible as possible.
We ensure that both in-person and remote attendees benefit from the same high level of insight, training, and expertise. Additionally, recordings and event materials will be available to all attendees for access and review after the event.
Substitute delegates
If you are unable to attend an event, you may send a substitute in your place, provided you notify the SCL office in advance by emailing hello@scl.org and pay the appropriate registration fee. If a non-member is attending instead of a member, they can either join SCL and pay the member rate or attend at the non-member rate.
Block booking discounts
Some of our events offer a special reduction when multiple places are booked (for example, receive a complimentary 4th place for an SCL member at no cost when you purchase 3 places at the member rate). Where block bookings for attendance at SCL events are available, they apply to SCL members with a valid SCL membership only. Block booking discounts apply to multiple bookings made at the same time and cannot be applied in retrospect. Block booking discounts are not available online and should be made by contacting the SCL team at hello@scl.org
Concessionary rates:
For academics, students, the unemployed and those experiencing financial hardship are available upon application. Please contact hello@scl.org for more information.
SCL Code of Conduct for SCL events:
SCL is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate at the event or on Twitter and other online media. Participants violating these rules may be asked to leave the event at the discretion of the organisers.
Event changes:
It may be necessary for reasons beyond the control of SCL to change the venue, content, and timings of an event or to substitute speakers. The safety and well-being of our delegates are paramount and therefore in-person events may be converted to online events due to government restrictions or travel disruption.
Event Booking Form for Your Internal Use:
If you require internal sign-off in order to attend events and training, please go to our Internal Booking Form page to download your form. The form contains essential information about the event, including speakers and content, why you should attend and the intended learning outcomes.
