Join the SCL Women in Technology Law group for an in-person event, focused on wellbeing.
Please note that, although this event has been organised by the Women in Tech Law Group, wellbeing is an important consideration for members, and this session is open to all genders.
This event seeks to explore some of the challenges faced by lawyers in the tech sector, with a particular focus on how these can affect wellbeing. The panellists, all of whom are practising lawyers, as well as being experts in the field of wellbeing, will share their experiences and knowledge, offering valuable insights and practical advice on coping with the stresses and challenges of a career in law.
The panel will be followed by drinks and networking.

Jana Srikumar:
Jana is Senior Legal Counsel within the Global Privacy, Technology and IP team at dentsu – a global marketing and advertising agency headquartered in Japan.
Having begun her career in private practice, Jana has worked as a technology lawyer in international firms and in-house at global organisations.
Jana is especially interested in the intersection of law, technology and DEI. As a woman in law of a South Asian background, and as the first in her family to pursue higher education, she believes in the power of diversity (of people and thought) and the importance of minimising barriers to entry into the profession.
Jana has participated in numerous social mobility initiatives during her career and is committed to advancing, celebrating and connecting women in technology law. She has also helped organise workplace wellbeing events and initiatives, both internal and in collaboration with clients and third parties.
Claire Sanders:
Claire qualified as a corporate lawyer in 2007 and since then has practiced law, first in private practice before moving to lead the in-house legal functions of some of the fastest growing consumer brands in the UK.
She now splits her time between advising start up businesses through her legal consultancy, The Legal Space, and advising legal teams on driving efficiency through human skills through Being Human, an organisation she co-founded with her sister.
Through Being Human, Claire hosts Thrive Legal, an active community of 350+ in-house lawyers coming together to share practical skills for thriving. She co-hosts a podcast called How to Thrive which shares insights on thriving from thought leaders across a diverse range of industries including aviation, veterinary, medicine and law.
Natalie Connor:
Natalie is a former barrister-turned-tech lawyer and wellness founder.
Natalie practised as a litigator for many years before moving in-house to set up legal and ops teams within scale-ups. Currently VP Legal & Expansion at Crowdcube, Natalie also sits on a variety of boards helping SMEs navigate digital and other challenges, with a particular focus on female and ethnic minority-led businesses.
Natalie’s own health journey led her to found Elevate. – a wellness community and boutique retreat specialist which curates mind and body experiences for entrepreneurs, change-makers and senior leaders focused on three key ‘pillars’ – movement | functional medicine & nutrition | mindfulness & coaching.
Gillian Higgins:
Gillian is a senior international criminal barrister, mediator and mindfulness teacher.
Gillian is the Head of the International Practice Group at 9BR Chambers, with over 25 year’s experience as a barrister, specialising in international criminal law and international financial crime. She is an accredited civil and commercial mediator and faculty member of the London School of Mediation.
Gillian is also a mindfulness teacher and delivers courses to members of the legal profession. Her approach to mindfulness has always been no-nonsense, scientifically based, and practical. Her Everyday Mindfulness programme provides instruction on how to feel less stressed, improve your focus, grow your self-compassion and enjoy a greater sense of wellbeing. She is the author of ‘Mindfulness at Work and Home’ and the host of the podcast ‘Mindful Life’. Gillian is also a Champion of LawCare, the mental health charity for the legal sector.

Free membership for trainee lawyers and UK students:
SCL provides free membership for trainee lawyers until qualification and for UK students in full-time education with a valid ac.uk email address. Student members are eligible to attend SCL events at concessionary rates where a fee is applicable. Trainee members are entitled to attend SCL events at the standard members’ rate (the concessionary rate for UK students in full-time education does not apply). Trainees and UK students in full-time education can apply to join SCL for free by emailing hello@scl.org
Event changes:
It may be necessary for reasons beyond the control of SCL to change the venue, content, and timings of an event or to substitute speakers. The safety and well-being of our delegates are paramount and therefore in-person events may be converted to online events due to government restrictions or travel disruption.
