John is an in- house commercial lawyer with over 20 years’ experience, a Certified Information Privacy Professional/ Europe (CIPP/E) and has a Masters in Information Technology law from the University of Strathclyde.

Joanna advises clients across a range of industries on a wide variety of privacy issues, including privacy policies and cookie notices, direct marketing campaigns, data processing arrangements, international data transfers, and privacy-related aspects of new technologies, products and services. In addition, Joanna regularly assists clients with contentious data and privacy work, including data breaches, data subject requests, and regulatory complaints and investigations.

Joanna is also an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E).

With 15+ years experience as an in-house counsel, private practice lawyer and privacy professional, James leads the privacy and transactions legal function at TripleLift, a leading programmatic platform for native advertising and first party data solutions. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of contracting and go to market legal support — and privacy strategy, compliance & governance — for the company’s global advertising and media products.

Hazel is head of the privacy and information group at Fieldfisher, specialising in data protection and information law. Her clients come from within the UK government, health and charitable sectors, and also include professional services firms and IT service providers. She particularly enjoys advising on pragmatic solutions and helping clients succeed in their projects.

Laura brings over 15 years of expertise as a technology, commercial and privacy lawyer. Currently serving as the Legal Director and Deputy Data Protection Officer for a global FTSE 250 distributor, Laura spearheads the group’s privacy and AI compliance programmes. Laura also leads negotiations on global technology and digital infrastructure transactions while navigating complex legal frameworks around the world.

Matthew is an associate in the London office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (WSGR), where he focuses on privacy, data protection, AI and cybersecurity law. He advises clients of all sizes in these areas and assists them with investigations by UK and EU supervisory authorities and with data breach responses and notification. Nabiel is a trainee solicitor who has experience with advising businesses on b2b contracts, consumer law, data protection, intellectual property, and corporate matters such as M&A. His firm is based in Leeds City Centre and has a notable involvement in the tech industry. As such, Nabiel has been involved with advising tech companies on SaaS contracts, software licensing, e-commerce, and MSA supply agreements. He looks to qualify into commercial contracts. Nabiel has contributed to articles published on SCL, including topics such as raising issues with consumer law in the video games sector. Outside of work, Nabiel has a keen interest in tech gadgets and builds his own gaming PCs from scratch.
